Kathy Barlow

Kathy Barlow is a managing director at Marsh McLennan, where her focus is assisting general counsels, chief financial officers and directors of risk management of public, private and pre-IPO companies. Kathy provides advice on enterprise risk management, directors’ and officers’ liability insurance, cyber liability insurance, professional liability, as well as all lines of corporate and commercial insurance.

Kathy’s focus also includes risk consulting, analytics and risk finance optimization, human capital, 401k, financial wellness and the executive benefits areas. Kathy has consistently produced and retained client business for numerous years, has been leading high performing client service teams at Marsh since 2004 with a superior client retention rate.

Prior to her leadership role at Marsh, Kathy served as general counsel and corporate secretary to The Bernstein Companies, a hospitality owner and operator in Washington DC.  Kathy was assistant general counsel to First Virginia Banks, Inc., and represented real estate clients while at Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn. She is past president of the Washington chapter of the global professional organization, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) (2004). Kathy is a frequent speaker on insurance, risk, and professional development topics for ACC, ACC National Capital Region, the Georgetown Law Corporate Counsel Institute, the Georgetown Law Hotel and Lodging Law Conference. Board member, Georgetown Law Corporate Counsel Institute (2005-present) and of the Georgetown Law Hotel and Lodging Law Institute. Kathy chairs 5050 Women on Boards in Florida (2018-present).

Kathy holds a BS from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and a JD from Emory University School of Law, Atlanta, Georgia.
